Personal protective equipment (PPE) includes a medical masks, gowns, head cover, show covers respirators (i.e. N95 or equivalent) and aprons are the hope of ray to protect our lives from virus spreading from one host to others. These all of are made up by commodity plastics (Polypropylene and Polyethylene) by using a special technology thru breathable film. However, gloves, goggles and face shields are made by mainly engineering Plastics like Polycarbonate, PET, and SBR. Not only these PPEs but also others tools used for treatment or supporting equipment, like medical kits, tray, Ventilators etc. are also made by plastics by different plastics formulations.
Now the use of plastics materials in medical sector is growing rapidly from day to day life and we can’t avoid the plastics from our daily life. This is important to understand that “Plastics are not a foe, they could be a good friend when we think with our innovative mind”.
